A new free guided audio tour exploring Emersons Green, Mangotsfield, and the surround areas will be launching next week with the aim of getting families out exercising this summer and learning about the area.

The 3.7-mile route starts outside Emersons Green Library and covers 14 points of interest, celebrating local mining heritage, chocolate production, giant earth sculpture, supercomputers and more.

The walk covers Emersons Green Park, Mangotsfield, Rodway Common, Mangotsfield Station, Pomphrey Hill, The Dramway and Cycle Path.

Families will be able to scan the QR codes around the route to hear commentary and interviews between July 1 and September 30.

The audio tour was produced locally by 15-year-old Winterbourne Academy media and business student Lenni Langreiter as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Volunteering with support from South Gloucestershire and Emersons Green Councils.

Lenni commented: “It’s my second year of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. It was a challenge to find a six-month volunteering placement, so with the support of Emersons Green Town Council and local history groups, we created our own unique project. I’m so grateful for everyone’s help.”
