The Love Island host will return for her second season when it airs on 5 June

Maya Jama is “ready for the madness” of Love Island after attending a wellness retreat in Thailand. The television presenter, 28, from Bristol, has spent the past week preparing for her “hectic” return to ITV screens.

The Love Island host enjoyed a solo trip to South East Asia in order to learn more about “balance”, after admitting to being a party animal. Ahead of the reality dating show airing on 5 June, she told her 2.7 million Instagram followers that she now feels “new and fresh inside”.

Posting a series of calming photos and stunning selfies to her social media page, the 28-year-old wrote: “The loveliest week with no badness Just beautiful weather, healthy stuff, bare skin, meditation and massage 💆‍♀️

“I needed this more than I knew, as someone who loves to double dip (work and party) and has done successfully for years 😂😜 I’ve never been good at listening to when my body needs a break because I suppose it’s got used to functioning on little sleep and junk food ect but I know you can only ride a certain wave for so long until it starts to mash you up without looking after yourself, I’ve travelled alone a couple of times in the past and loved it & I’m a very social human day to day but it’s always nice just spending time with myself every now n then to shut off and re align and one thing I’ve been saying for the longest is I need more balance.”

Maya continued: “I’m all or nothing with most things in life but adding more healthy-look-after-your-insides stuff never really hit the top of my list until now so when I had this final week off before the workload begins again I was fortunate to be able to go away an zen and now I feel all new and fresh inside ready for the madness 🥰🤌🏽”

Maya first revealed that she was taking a trip last Tuesday (2 May). After missing her first flight, she finally boarded the plane and took a selfie from her business class seat writing: “Off on an exciting journey to 🧘🏻‍♀️😂”. She later revealed that she was in Thailand after tagging the location on her Instagram story.

The Love Island host then explained to her followers: “This week I chose to come to Thailand alone for a wellness retreat for a week before everything gets hectic with work again instead of party in America because I’m trying to master #balance”.
