A police station in Bristol has announced it is closing to the public for the “majority of the summer”.

Avon & Somerset Police say they are currently unable to confirm an exact reopening date for the enquiry office at Fishponds Police Station on Fishponds Road.

People who need to visit the enquiry office in the meantime are being advised to go to the Bridewell Police Station in city centre instead.

The force says the temporary closure will not affect policing in the local Fishponds area, with the station to be still used by officers.

A post shared by Bristol Neighbourhood Policing said: “Fishponds Enquiry Office will be temporarily closed for the majority of the summer.

“While it is closed, if you need to visit an enquiry office, the closest alternative would be The Bridewell Police Station.

“Alternatively, you can contact us on our website or call us on 101 to report.

“If it is an emergency, please call 999.”

The post added: “Our Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to be based out of Fishponds and this will not affect the number of police officers and PCSOs in the area.”

It follows the temporary closure of the enquiry office at Broadbury Road Police Station in Knowle West to allow for refurbishment works, which have since been completed.

An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Fishponds police enquiry office will be closed for much of the summer.

“We will provide cover to open when we can but unfortunately we cannot guarantee a fixed day we’ll be open each week. Our webpage is updated weekly to show the days that it will be open.

“During this time, people can visit The Bridewell, Patchway or Kingswood police enquiry offices as alternatives with opening times here.

“Our Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to be based out of Fishponds Police Station and this will not affect the number of police officers and PCSOs in the area.”
