A luxury all-inclusive care home in Bristol hosted a cheese and wine tasting in honour of National Cheese Day.

Badminton Place, which is part of the Berkley Care Group, brought staff and residents together in the home’s Bistro on Tuesday, June 4 to try a selection of cheeses.

The diverse cheese selection from M&S included white stilton with apricot, cheddar with chilli, wensleydale with cranberry, garlic and herb roulade, cheddar with balsamic onion, Somerset cheddar, mango and ginger stilton, brie, vintage Dutch gouda, and blue stilton.

To complement the cheeses, residents enjoyed an assortment of crackers, chutney, orange marmalade, fresh strawberries, and grapes. The variety of accompaniments encouraged residents to experiment with different textures and tastes. One resident, Myrtle, discovered an unusual yet delicious combination of crackers with orange marmalade and chilli cheese.

Among the cheeses on offer, the residents’ favourites were mango and ginger stilton, vintage Dutch gouda, garlic and herb roulade, and cheddar with chilli. The event created a buzz in the bistro with residents discussing their favourite cheeses while many went up for seconds and even thirds.

Commenting on the event, Lauren Ash, Activities Coordinator at Badminton Place, said: “We love to see our residents so enthusiastic about our cheese tasting. It is always a pleasure to see them engaging with each other, sharing their likes and dislikes, and discovering new favourites.

“There was so much positive feedback that this wine and cheese event may become a regular tradition here at Badminton Place.”
