Free fitness event to celebrate leisure centre refurb

Henbury Leisure Centre in Bristol is hosting a free open weekend on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30.

The centre – which is run by leading operator Everyone Active in partnership with Bristol City Council – is hosting the weekend-long event to celebrate the opening of its refurbished gym and studio.

Open to all ages, interests and abilities, the event will welcome the local community to be the first to try out the centre’s upgraded facilities and enjoy a weekend focused on health and fitness – all free of charge.

As part of the refurbishment, the gym has brand-new, state-of-the-art equipment from Life Fitness installed, including cardio, resistance and free weights. What’s more, there is now a dedicated functional training area, helping to support gymgoers in reaching their fitness goals.

The studio has also had a revamp, with all-new Keiser bikes and sets of weights, as well as a new sound system to keep people motivated during cycling classes.

During the free open weekend, visitors will have full access to the upgraded facilities and there will be a number of classes scheduled, including group cycling, body pump and yoga, along with gym challenges and swim sessions.

With Euro 2024 in full swing, the centre will also have a variety of football-themed activities and challenges throughout the weekend.

Cameron Bate, contract manager for Everyone Active in Bristol, said: “We’re so excited to welcome the public back to Henbury Leisure Centre and unveil our new and improved gym and studio.

“Our open weekend is a fantastic opportunity to try out the refreshed facilities and join likeminded people in the community who are passionate about health and fitness. There is something for everyone and we look forward to seeing people there.”
