Carol Vorderman has admitted that she left Glastonbury after just one night because she felt she had “had enough” of the festival experience. The former Countdown star, 62, who lives in Bristol, revealed on BBC Radio Wales that she was “the most uncool person in the world” after abandoning the festival to go home and watch the TV coverage instead.

The I’m A Celebrity star explained: “The last time I went to Glastonbury when I was middle-aged, I took the kids and I got one of these really expensive glamping tents. And I thought, ‘Well it’s bound to be reasonable.’

"The first time I went, I just thought, ‘No this is not for me’… so I booked two nights in this tent at like, another mortgage, you know. We spent the first night there, and I thought, ‘I can’t do this, I can’t do this’ - so I got back in the car, because I live in Bristol."

Despite having handled the I’m A Celebrity jungle in both Australia and South Africa, Carol  found camping at a music festival just too much for her to deal with.  She confessed: "We got back in the car, and we just drove home and watched it on the telly.I’d had enough, I said, ‘I can’t do another night’.”

Carol took to Twitter to ask her radio show listeners and followers about camping, as this year’s Glastonbury festival got underway. She asked them what creature comforts they couldn’t live without at a festival.

Fans flooded the comments section with suggestions, from toilet paper and a hot water bottle to nail clippers and paracetamol. One fan joked: "Recently, some friends of mine suggested we go camping for the weekend, so I made a list of all the things that I need: - new friends."
